The SSBS-2 is a practical and easy to use behavior rating scale for teachers and other school personnel. It provides comprehensive ratings of both social skills and antisocial problem behaviors of children and adolescents in school settings.
The SSBS-2 includes two co-normed scales:
- Social Competence — 32 items that measure adaptive prosocial skills, and includes three subscales: Peer Relations, Self-Management/Compliance and Academic Behavior.
- Antisocial Behavior — 32 items that measure socially relevant problem behaviors through three subscales: Hostile/Irritable, Antisocial-Aggressive, and Defiant/Disruptive.
The SSBS-2 was standardized with a national sample of 2,280 students, in grades K-12. Raw scores are converted to T-scores, percentile ranks and descriptive Social Function Levels. Internal consistency reliability of the SSBS-2 is .96 to .98 for the two total scale scores, and .94 to .96 for the six subscales. Test-retest reliability of the SSBS-2 has been documented in the .86 to .94 range at 1 week intervals, and .60 to .83 at three week intervals. Inter-rater reliability coefficients for ratings provided by teachers and classroom aides have been documented at .72 to .86 for Social Competence scores, and .53 to .71 for the Antisocial Behavior scores.
The SSBS-2 Kit includes a Manual and 25 Ratings Forms.
