Created for use with individuals who do not speak English, those with hearing impairments, individual unwilling/unable to communicate verbally, or populations with minimal language capabilities, the RAIT-NV requires only minimal motor requirements. No reading skills, or visual-motor abilities are required.
Derived from the RAIT, the RAIT-NV is a rapid, reliable and valid test of nonverbal intelligence.
The RAIT-NV can be administered individually, or to a group. It is useful in schools, juvenile and adult justice systems, and clinical practices, as well as in human resource and industrial settings. It is designed to provide continuity across a wide age span.
Two subtests evaluate fluid intelligence. The Nonverbal Analogies Subtest and Sequences Subtest use appealing, bright illustrations that are engaging to examinees. These two subtests create the RAIT Nonverbal Intelligence Index, which is scaled to the familiar IQ metric. The Score Summary Form allows tracking of scores over multiple administrations, to calculate reliable change indexes, and calculation of discrepancy scores.
Each subtest has a sample item to facilitate comprehension. These sample items may be read by the examinee, read aloud to the examinee, or conveyed through hand gestures. Alternate instructions and additional sample items are provided for special populations.
The RAIT-NV was validated using several clinical groups, including intellectual disability; TBI, stroke; dementia; learning disability; hearing impairment and ADHD. An investigation of RAIT-NV scores’ relationship to the examinee’s occupation industries and job complexity levels revealed expected patterns.
It has been rigorously examined to be free of gender and ethnic bias, reducing gender and ethnicity as confounds, particularly important for use with ESL students and adults.
The RAIT-NV Kit includes 10 Reusable Item Booklets, 50 each of the Answer Sheets and Score Summary Forms, a Scoring Key and the Manual with Fast Guide.
