The Edmark Functional Word Series uses the effective, proven Edmark techniques (fully described on page 30) to teach the practical words necessary for everyday living and work situations. The multisensory technique teaches 400 functional words seen in the grocery store, on the job, on menus, and on common street and building signs.

In each lesson, students learn a new sight word, practice sight recognition, reinforce recognition, and associate the word with its meaning through illustrations.

Short steps and multiple repetitions are used throughout the program. Reproducible worksheets reinforce learning with activities such as writing, identifying, circling, matching and using the word in context.
