The Culture Free Self-Esteem Inventory (CFSEI-3) is a set of three self-report inventories which assess self-esteem in a culturally-fair manner. It is easy to administer and score. Responses to the CFSEI-3 can either be written or spoken.
In this edition, there are three age-appropriate forms: Primary, Intermediate and Adolescent. All three forms provide a Global Self-Esteem Quotient (GSEQ). The Intermediate and Adolescent forms provide self-esteem scores in 4 areas: Academic, General, Parental/Home and Social. The Adolescent form also provides a Personal Self-Esteem score. A defensive measure (lie scale) assesses the extent to which the subject's responses are guarded.
The CFSEI-3 was standardized on a sample of 1,727 individuals, from 17 states, whose demographic characteristics match those projected by the U.S. Bureau of the Census for the school-age population in the year 2000.
For GSEQ scores, average internal consistency coefficients rage from .81 to .93, time sampling coefficients range from .72 to .98.
The CFSEI-3 correlates strongly with other measures of self-esteem and self-concept and includes studies, demonstrating its cultural fairness.
